Gambia’s Economy Grew Estimated 5.7% in 2010, Minister Says
Gambia’s economy grew an estimated 5.7 percent in 2010, slightly less than the 5.9 percent average since 2007, Finance Minister Abdou Kolley said in a letter to the International Monetary Fund, published on the IMF’s website.
The West African nation’s current-account deficit is estimated to have declined to 10 percent of gross domestic product in 2010, he said.
“This one percentage-point decrease largely reflects a pick-up of exports of man-made filaments, groundnuts and cashew nuts,” according to the statement.
