Palawan finds cash in cashews

MANILA, Philippines - Beautiful beaches and an underground river aren't the only riches Palawan has to offer. This island paradise also takes pride as the top supplier of cashew nuts in the Philippines.

According to the Research Outreach Station, Palawan supplies 99% of cashew nuts for the entire country.

The most popular cashew products from Palawan are its roasted and fried cashews but the province also produces other delicacies such as cashew tarts and cashew wine.

The Palawan agricultural experimental station is currently encouraging more farmers to embark in cashew farming by offering training and free seedlings. Report by Hazel Salas, ABS-CBN News
